Strategy Execution Management - Keyne Insight
Performance Management Principals

How it all started

It all began with a hot deadline and a blank piece of paper. In January 2000, one of our clients asked us if we could revamp their employee performance management system. “Of course!” we replied. “By the way,” they added, “can you have it done in four days?”

We didn’t get much sleep over the next four nights.

Being inventive people, we sat down with a blank sheet of paper and brainstormed everything we could think of that would impact a person’s performance. There were a lot of bulleted items on that list, and we quickly discovered that this was no four-day project. (Thankfully, when we presented our plan to our client, they realized that it was no four-day project, either!)

What started as an employee performance management system slowly transformed into a holistic strategy execution management process. After all, doesn’t organizational strategy have the greatest impact on expectations at an individual level? The reason organizations really care about employee performance is because they have a direct impact on both overall organizational performance and the realization of organizational strategy. That four-day project for one client over ten years ago has turned into the core of our business. Over the years, we’ve developed and refined our strategy execution management system until it has become what it is today.
