How it all started
|
|
It all began with a hot deadline and a blank piece of paper. In January 2000, one
of our clients asked us if we could revamp their employee performance management
system. “Of course!” we replied. “By the way,” they added, “can you have it done
in four days?”
We didn’t get much sleep over the next four nights.
Being inventive people, we sat down with a blank sheet of paper and brainstormed
everything we could think of that would impact a person’s performance. There were
a lot of bulleted items on that list, and we quickly discovered that this was no
four-day project. (Thankfully, when we presented our plan to our client, they realized
that it was no four-day project, either.)
What was originally a four-day project for one client has turned into the core of
our business. Over the years, we’ve developed and refined our performance management
system until it has become what it is today.
